NFL Power Rankings (After Week 14)
Pittsburgh and Tennessee are back in the Top 10. Green Bay, Kansas City and Minnesota move back up in the Top 10. Buffalo stays in the Top 10 despite a loss. Seattle and New Orleans remain in the Top 5 though they lost, too.
But the biggest story is who ISN'T in the Top 10 this week – for the first time in a long, long time, the New England Patriots do not reside in the Top 10 after back-to-back losses to Houston and Kansas City. It's odd without them here.
And Baltimore makes it five straight weeks at No. 1 in the NFL Power Rankings. Here's that Top 10 list going into Week 15:
1. (1 last week) Baltimore (11-2): The Buffalo Bills hit the Ravens in the mouth and all the Ravens did was smirk back. The Ravens handled their business, 24-17, as Lamar Jackson threw for 145 yards and three touchdown passes and ran over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. The Ravens have won a franchise-record nine straight games and look formidable.
2 (3) San Francisco (12-1): It is uncertain which team looks more complete, the Ravens or the 49ers. Either way, the 49ers were given a major test in the Superdome against the Saints and got the win on a last-second field goal by Robbie Gould. And, oh, how lucky the Atlanta Falcons must feel as the next team to try and slay the 49ers.
3 (2) Seattle (10-3): The Seahawks headed south to Los Angeles and got popped a number of times by the Rams' defense that finally showed up and showed out Sunday night, 28-12. Now the Seahawks must bounce back with a road trip to take on the Carolina Panthers.
4 (4) New Orleans (11-2): Only two things the Saints did not do in the 48-46 loss to the 49ers. First, they didn't have the last possession and the 49ers won it on Gould's kick. Second, the Saints forgot about playing defense and hurt themselves throughout the game, but were still in a position to win at the end. The Saints next host Indianapolis next.
5 (7) Green Bay (10-3): The Packers were hardly impressive playing Washington, but managed the 20-15 victory and move back into the Top 5. Aaron Jones with a big game for Green Bay with 134 yards rushing and a touchdown. Green Bay hosts division rival Chicago next.
6 (9) Kansas City (9-4): A most impressive victory over the Patriots in knocking them out of the Top 10 for the first time in seemingly forever. Patrick Mahomes caused some of the Patriots collapse with 283 yards passing and a TD strike to Mecole Hardman. Harrison Butker struck for three field goals in the win. The Chiefs get Denver at home this weekend.
7 (NEW) Tennessee (8-5): Why not the Titans? They have won four in a row and seem to be getting it these days behind quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who threw for 391 yards and three TDs in the 42-21 win over Oakland. A big showdown with the Houston Texans is upcomng this weekend.
8 (10) Minnesota (9-4): They don't have to be impressive ... they just need to win. After a tough loss to Seattle the week before, the Vikings rebounded with a 20-7 win over Detroit as Kirk Cousins went for 242 yards and a TD pass in victory. Minnesota travels to face Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend.
9 (6) Buffalo (9-4): Really, the only thing missing on the Bills' resume is a victory over a team with a winning record, even though they have stood their ground against those good teams, like the No. 1 Ravens. Buffalo gets another chance, though, this week against Pittsburgh at Heinz Field.
10 (NEW) Pittsburgh (8-5): Speaking of the Steelers, they have won three in a row to re-enter the Top 10. Mike Tomlin is arguably doing his best coaching job in 13 years as the team's head coach. Pittsburgh looks to follow up its 23-17 win at Arizona with a bigger win over the Bills at home this weekend.
See ... you ... later: Houston (8-5), New England (10-3).
