NFL POWER RANKINGS (AFTER WEEK 2):
So nothing changes at the top as the Top 3 teams in the rankings -- the Patriots, the Packers and the Chiefs -- all won their games and are 2-0. Then it gets interesting. With the Rams beating the Saints, Los Angeles moves up four places to No. 5, while New Orleans slips from No. 4 to No. 8, the lone 1-1 team in the Top 10. Dallas and Baltimore move up a spot and three teams enter the Top 10 this week, all with 2-0 records -- Buffalo at No. 7, San Francisco at No. 9 and Seattle at No. 10.
1. (1 last week) New England (2-0): Stomped all over the woeful Miami Dolphins, 43-0, and have outscored its two opponents, 76-3. Not the Patriots' fault these two teams have come up on their schedule. 2. (2) Greeen Bay (2-0): Two impressive wins against two divisional rivals. First, the Bears, then this past week, the Vikings, 21-16. Keep Aaron Rodgers' uniform clean and boy, what a year thse Packers can have. 3. (3) Kansas City (2-0): The Chiefs had little trouble in going into Oakland and taking down the Raiders, 28-10, after spotting them a 10-0 lead.. Patrick Mahomes has thrown seven touchdown passes in two weeks. 4. (5) Dallas (2-0): The Cowboys have vanquished divisional rivals Washington and the New York Giants so far. Lots of Dak. Lots of Zeke. Heck, lots of Jason Witten! Man, these guys look good so far. 5. (9) Los Angeles Rams (2-0): Defending NFC champions looked good at home in beating the New Orleans Saints (with a little help again from the officials who blew an obvious fumble call for a touchdown), 17-9. Jared Goff goes 19-of-28 passing for 283 yards and a TD pass. 6. (7) Baltimore (2-0): First the woebegone Miami Dolphins. Then the Ravens take down the young Arizona Cardinals, 23-17. Counting preseason (who does anyway?), the Ravens are 6-0. 7. (NEW) Buffalo (2-0): I know the Jets and Giants are down, but for the Bills to keep coming back to the greater Metropolitan area and win each time, you have to give Josh Allen and Co. a ton of credit. The Bills now own MetLife Stadium! 8. (4) New Orleans (1-1): So Drew Brees is out a mininum six games with his thumb injury, which just had surgery performed on it. If Teddy Bridgewater and/or Tayson Hill can hold the fort down before Brees returns, the Saints could hang around for a while. 9. San Francisco (NEW) (2-0): The 49ers traveled to Cincinnati after the Bengals gave the Seahawks everything they had on the road the week before and inflicted their will on them, 41-17. In two games, Jimmy Garoppolo has thrown four touchdowns to four different receivers. 10. (NEW) Seattle (2-0): The games have been exciting. The wins have been better (Cincinnati at home, Pittsburgh on the road). The Seahawks may be establishing themselves with a whole different unit of players -- and Russell Wilson still in charge at QB.
