NFL Power Rankings (After Week 3)

Another week of the NFL season is in the book and normally, you'd see plenty of movement up and down the rankings in the early part of the season.

You won't see it here this week. The Top 5 teams in the rankings all won and the Bills (No. 6), Saints (No. 7) and 49ers (No. 8) all moved up a spot after they won. Detroit is 2-0-1 … yeah, those Detroit Lions! Coach Matt Patricia doing a terrific job thus far. And the Baltimore Ravens slipped from No. 6 to No. 10 after giving Kansas City everything they had.

Here's the rundown of my personal Top 10 NFL rankings:

1. (1 last week) New England (3-0): Joe Willie Namath, Richard Todd and Ken O'Brien were all available on Sunday, too, but it didn't matter who the Jets put out there at quarterback. Tom Brady threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. I doubt any of those ex-Jets quarterbacks could play defense. 2. (2): Green Bay (3-0): The Denver Broncos threw their best punches at Aaron Rodgers and Co. on Sunday. The Packers are off and running under new coach Matt LaFleur. 3. (3): Kansas City (3-0): Patrick Mahomes is off to another record season for the Chiefs. Even a defense as sturdy and strong as the Ravens had a hard time keeping up with this Chiefs offense. 4. (4) Dallas (3-0): We know, we know, already!! The Miami Dolphins are horrible. But Miami actually had its best game so far against a Cowboys team that seems to be hitting on all cylinders, albeit it comes against bad competition. And when did Jason Witten turn back the clock? 5 (5) Los Angeles Rams (3-0): Jared Golf, Todd Gurley, Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp get a lot of the publicity, but on the other side of the ball, I could rely on Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers and newcomers Clay Matthews III and Eric Weddle to make the play when the defense has to come up big at the end, as this defense proved at the end in Cleveland. 6 (7) Buffalo (3-0): Buffalo proved it can win a game in another locale other than New Jersey. It just so happens it was at home and though the Cincinnati Bengals made a furious comeback, it wasn't enough in the end. It's the first time since 2011 the Bills are 3-0. 7. (8) New Orleans (2-1): A most impressive win on the road in front of some of the most raucous fans in the league as the Saints took down the Seattle Seahawks. Teddy Bridgewater is no Hall of Fame quarterback like Drew Brees, but when you go 19-of-27 passing for 177 yards and two touchdowns, you'll win fans over quickly. 8. (9) San Francisco (3-0): Finally, 49ers fans have hope under coach Kyle Shanahan (third season) and if Jimmy Garoppolo can keep his body in one piece throughout, this has the looks of being something special by the Bay. 9. (NEW) Detroit (2-0-1): It might just be time to take these Lions of second-year coach Matt Patricia seriously. Already, the Lions have wins in back-to-back weeks against two playoff teams from last year (the Chargers and Lions). Matthew Stafford doesn't have to put this team on his back and carry them … they have talent in many positions. 10. (6) Baltimore Ravens (2-1): There's no shame losing to that high-powered offense that Andy Reid, Mahomes and Co. run in Kansas City. Lamar Jackson showed once again he's maturing into an upper echelon quarterback who almost pulled out the win in front of one of the most boisterous fan bases in the league. Thanks for coming (dropping out of the Top 10): Seattle (2-1).
