NFL Power Rankings (After Week 6)

The top of the NFL Power Rankings remains the same in the three places: No. 1 New England (6-0), No. 2 New Orleans (5-1) and No. 3 San Francisco (5-0).

After that, teams move up (with the exception of the flailing Kansas City Chiefs at No. 10). The big movers belong to the Seattle Seahawks at No. 5 and the Carolina Panthers at No. 7, both up three spots. Here's my rankings after the sixth week of the season.

1. (1 last week) New England Patriots (6-0): The New York Giants, rejuvenated and all, gave the Patriots a dance or two in the first half. Then they got exhausted from doing the Fonz's Kazatsky dance to "Hava Nagila" and hit the floor hard ("Yowsah, yowsah, yowsah!"). The Patriots just march to their own beat.

2. (2) New Orleans Saints (5-1): The Saints came upon a tough defense in the Jacksonville Jaguars. Still, the Jaguars have struggled on offense and the Saints' defense is a unit that isn't quite talked about enough. Saints were 13-6 winners.

3. (3) San Francisco 49ers (5-0): All the 49ers did was go to the famed Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and take down the defending NFC champions, who are struggling big-time at this point. When your defense can hold Jared Goff to just 78 yards passing, you've done something impressive.

4. (5) Green Bay Packers (5-1): Yes, they are moving up the list, but honestly, they had no right winning that football game Monday night with the Detroit Lions after some awful calls by the officials kept Packers drives alive, most notably the two "hands to the face" calls against long-armed defensive lineman Trey Flowers where the hands were "far" from the face of the man blocking him, David Bakhtiari. Mason Crosby won the game with a 23-yard field goal.

5. (8) Seattle Seahawks (5-1): The league better take these guys from the Pacific Northwest for real. Down 20-6 at one point, the Seahawks rallied, took the lead, gave it away, then came back to win against the Cleveland Browns, 32-28. Russell Wilson (23-of-33 passing, 295 yards, 2 TDs) is a legitimate MVP candidate early on.

6. (7) Buffalo Bills (4-1): The Bills killed it this week ... in the bye week. But I'm pretty certain they'll be able to kill it on a football field this Sunday: They host the woebegone and winless Miami Dolphins (0-5).

7 (10) Carolina Panthers (4-2): No Cam Newton ... no problem! That's why you have a dynamite running back in Christian McCaffrey, who has already amassed 618 yards rushing and has scored eight TDs. Kyle Allen had to get the job done in London against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he threw for 227 yards and two TDs in a 37-26 victory.

8. (9) Oakland Raiders (3-2): Of course, the Raiders won the previous week in London against the Chicago Bears and had the week off. This week, they're back at it in a test of Top 10 teams with No. 4 Green Bay at Lambeau Field.

9. (NEW) Houston Texans (4-2): The Texans have turned things around since their abysmal loss to the Carolina Panthers at home two weeks ago. They've put up 84 points in wins over the Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs. Deshaun Watson did throw a couple of picks, but otherwise, he had great numbers, going 30-of-42 passing for 280 yards and a touchdown, and ran in two scores. And Carlos Hyde had a big day with 116 yards on 26 carries and a TD. The Texans might start taking command of the AFC South.

10. (6) Kansas City Chiefs (4-2): Things haven't been so good for the Chiefs of late, losers of back-to-back games with the Indianapolis Colts and now the surging Houston Texans. Patrick Mahomes had three TD passes and threw for 273 yards, but the Chiefs defense had a bad week trying to stop Watson and Hyde.

Sayonara, for now: Philadelphia Eagles (3-3).
